My Favorite Fitness Equipment for a Good Workout Even On-The-Go

This is a round-up of my favorite fitness essentials that are easy to travel with and of course, effective! I encourage my students to use these all the time, and I knew I had to share them with you. We are all about infusing wellness into the modern-day schedule, and these fitness gems will help make that happen.

BALA BANGLES – Bala bangles are hands-free weights that allow you to do more movements. I love my bala bangles. They come in 1 or 2 lbs. They don’t add loads of weight to my carry on, however they definitely make an impact in my workouts. And hey! if you can’t spare the extra pound or two when traveling they aren’t terrible to wear in public. They are chic and come in a variety of colors. With their size and sleek design, they don’t take up a whole lot of space. The Bala bangles also come with their own mesh case, so you can store them in a desk for a quick sweat session, or even in the car if you just don’t want to worry about forgetting them. You can even use them as ankle weights. Bala bangles are an effective addition to any workout.

We are also giving away a blush 1lb set of Bala bangles in our 2021 Birthday Giveaway Dec. 6 – Dec. 10th.

SLIDERS – Believe it or not my favorite sliders come from Bala, too! They have a smooth side and a rough side, one side slides, and one has traction for your foot. These are great for big dynamic movements, take up little to no space, and give you the ability to add some intensity to your workout. They pack nicely in a carry on or easily slide under the front seat of your car to have no matter where the day takes you. We are all about adapting, so if you do forget your sliders, you can always grab a couple paper plates and use them the same way.

STRAP – A good ole’ strap can be really helpful for making movement accessible. The strap is a great accessory to have on hand for deep stretching and stabilizing movements. It rolls up and packs nicely. I love to use the strap to support my push up (or chaturanga in yoga), and to open up my lower back and hamstrings after I’ve been stuck in a car or on a plane all day. This is one of those that make your wellness practice feel really good. If you’re in a pinch and forgot your strap, reach for a belt, a tie, a pair of pants, scarf, or towel. You can get really creative with the substitutes here.

THERABANDS – These lightweight bands compliment any on-the-go workout by adding a level of resistance that ups the intensity of each movement, creating more strength while encouraging functional movement patterns. These are a must-pack item for me. Even at this moment, I have two yellow ones in my purse. I love to use resistance bands in my workouts because of their versatility. These bad boys really can do so many things! We can do an hour class of band work alone. Meaning, if you don’t have time to pack all the on-the-go fitness essentials, grab the bands and go! You’ll still get in a killer workout, promise!

Here’s the yellow ones I have in my purse!

JUMP ROPE – Ahhh yes, the classic jump rope. I had to include this one, because even though it may not be “ideal” to be jumping rope in your office this thing can really pack a punch if you make time for it. You can do three quick one-minute sprints of this and you’re cardio (could possibly) be through the roof immediately releasing a bunch of workout endorphins (the happy feels), which in turn just makes the whole day better. You feel more confident, you can feel every muscle in your legs, and you can check workout off your list! It truly is a great feeling when you’re finished. ALSO! Remember, light as a feather. Don’t slam down between each jump, keep the muscles activated, and land gingerly (or as gingerly as you can, anyways). The jump rope is an easy piece of fitness equipment to pack up and take with you anywhere.

I got my favorite jump rope at The Dollar Store.
Here’s one from Amazon, if you can’t find one there.

These fitness essentials can really pack a punch, and they are small enough to take with you anywhere. Best practice is to keep all these goodies in one place, so when it comes time to pack up you can grab and go without adding anything to your plate. I hope you find these new travel companions to be very beneficial to your wellness practice especially while you’re on the move.
